dsp = digital signal processing simply put it's the art of using a computer if you want to call it that, in terms of music this usually this involves adding or subtracting effects from a "natural" sound. For examply by applying a Fast Fourier Transform (a mathematical 'shift') to the work of a violist or drummer for example you might end up with a significantly modified and 'funky' sound. the term is very loosely used in the music sense... in the broader sense its exactly what its name says, its using a computer (or dedicate piece of hardware) to process a digital signal (1's and 0's) in order to produce a modified signal. DSP is "Digital Signal Processing". It's actually a fairly generic Electrical Engineering term, but in an audio context, it's used to refer to manipulations of digital audio. Over-use of it can lead to the term "fuckery", though almost every sound you've ever heard on an IDM record probably has some sort of DSP involved, whether it be reverb, equalization, etc. Just think "people messing with sound" in the IDM context and you've pretty well got it.
