What are some tracks that make you feel so small and insigificant like you have been ingulfed by them and they won't let you out? :) Two I can think of right now: Orbital - The Box (long version/parts 1-4): This is such an amazing tune, my favorite part starts at about 9:05. I can listen to this track all day long. Not so much IDM but, John Digweed - Heaven Scent: This track definatly makes me feel like I'm surrounded. Well it sounded like a good topic when I thought of it I just wish I could have thought of some better examples. So what are your favorite 'epic' tracks? I'm bored, so here are they : In no real order ( and so much varying styles ... ) and mostly ambient ... Most of them must be listen to on a large Sound System ... DreamFish's Hymn ( Pete Namlook and Mix Master Morris ) Spacetime Continuum's "Alien DreamTime" Theses two go together, with the vocals and the sounds, so deep, I love them ... Atom Heart Track one of "B2 Live at Berlin/Barcelona" Monochrome Ambient with a touch just make me happy ... Banco de Gaia's Last Train To Lhasa most of the 2nd CD ... Miranda Sex Garden's "Fairy Tales of Slavery" ( the last track ) Gothic, Sexy and you just want to dive in and be a slave of those voices ... Daniel Pemberton "Bedroom" with the "Antartica" track. So Clean and Cold ... Autechre's VLETRMX This is one of the ultimate ... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Have to admit about The Box of Orbital... Track 7. on Surfing on Sinewaves (Polygon Window) Psy 9 of Air Liquide but the 12" verion... very important because there is a "blank" right in the middle of the track which is SO important that is not on the CD version... There was also a track of I (Atom Heart) live somewhere (can't remember... my record has been stolen) on an old Trance compilation of Rising High... alx -----Original Message----- From: Adam Wendt [mailto:billyjoeray@netzero.net] Sent: August 6, 2001 4:34 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] Epic Tracks What are some tracks that make you feel so small and insigificant like you have been ingulfed by them and they won't let you out? :) Two I can think of right now: Orbital - The Box (long version/parts 1-4): This is such an amazing tune, my favorite part starts at about 9:05. The only one I can think of at the moment would be Richard Devine's track on the Lily of the Valley Compilation. That monstrous 12 minute opener. Excellent tune that engulfs anything within audible distance of the stereo its spitting out of. -mark Adam Wendt wrote:

Sooooo, 12 minute tracks count as epics on this list? I figured if anything, we'd have a crack team of experimental music addicts here that would list a slew of entire-CD-long tracks at the very least. Not even the obligatory Robert Rich mention? (Can we say multi-hour sleep concerts recorded on video-tape?) Just for starters.... ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
