Yeah, its reasons like this that also makes the whole "put on a good show" thing more important -- to me at least. It was nice to see Autechre live because, hey, they're Autechre, but was it worth $20 to sit through opening dj's that weren't that great to hear Autechre play a few tracks that didn't develop much, on a bad PA, and without even looking at the audience? hell, Cex was 5 bucks, 2 blocks from my apartment, and I got to eat gyro's at the venue before the show. I also bought the ticket (generic "Admit One" type thing hehe), walked 3 meters, handed it back over, and was there :D No ticketmaster, and it was nice knowing that my money would go to the venue and Cex's troupe. I should've tipped the guy. cheers, /derek At 03:39 PM 7/23/2001 -0500, you wrote:

Of course I'm insane. I should add that I'm primarily pissed at the Wiltern Theatre for the outrageous price, but also that Ticketmaster is the work of the devil. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Of course I'm insane. I should add that I'm primarily pissed at the Wiltern Theatre for the outrageous price, but also that Ticketmaster is the work of the devil. And also that there were 50 dollar seats and the "cheap seats" at like 35. Both shows sold out at well under 30 minutes. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I think that ticketmaster pays the Russian mafia to break the kneecaps of every venue owner who tries to go through another method of selling tickets. There's gotta be something that we can do to target the monopoly ticketmaster has. Why has there been no other ticket issuing websites in LA? San Francisco had ticketweb.com which was waaaaaaay better and only charged $3 overall per ticket. I think its highway robbery every time. I HATE ticketmaster with a passion. The worst was Air, they played at the Mayan theatre and I think tickets were $40 plus like $10 charges plus some convenience fee.

It doesn't get too much better in the Northwest... There's also Fastixx, Ticketweb, etc. which have recently raised their "convenience" fees so that they're nearing the fee levels of that of Ticketmaster. But it is curious why the southern California area doesn't have any alternatives to Ticketmaster, as far as popular, "big" shows are concerned. Where were we when Pearl Jam were trying to fight the good fight? Eddie Vedder, save us again! ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= On Mon, 23 Jul 2001, Yulia Matusov wrote:
