To be obvious I'll start with... Confield: Yeah... it's good. But I'm not really into it yet. I'm pretty sure I don't love it. Go Plastic: Yeah... bit of a disappointment really. He's kinda been here before. Couple of nice tracks but.... Microcontact: Like this quite a bit indeed. Very much his own sound. As is evidenced here - I seem to be getting quite bored of all this idm stuff. vocal studies and Uprock narratives: Great album, however, best tracks were on the EP. Amnesiac: YEY! Everything KidA wasn't. Fucking great album Tortoise: Millions now living... Fantastic Sea and Cake: Oui... Fantastic Hmmm... I guess I'm getting more in to acts with an idm attitude but who are making non-idm music. I'm sorry these reviews are so short... but anything else I could write would be bullshit. If you wanted to be really nice you could give me an opinion on this track: www.ramdis.com/fallbreaks.mp3 It's probably my best track. It's barbershop drum'n'bass. With a refrain about Seasonal Affection Disorder at the end. I'd appreciate it. thanks Hew _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Except the MF Doom and AesopRock track. One of the best in my opinion, but I also love MF.

I wholeheartedly agree. A superb album, except that track with the hand drums that Luke Vibert remixed. Those drums get annoying to me for some reason.. Dunno why.

I don't know. What exctly is idm, if not music that has clear influences of dance, which most of the artists you named do?

As much as I love placing people into categories, it sounds like you're enjoying more of the "post-rock" stuff. You may want to look into some Labradford stuff, although it's slower than Tortoise. A lot of the bands with pages at www.brainwashed.com covers a lot of "post-rock" material, which covers much of the "well this has elements that are similar to rock, but it's definitely not *rock* music." I've heard some really good Stars of the Lid that might be up your alley, along with Papa M or Aerial M (David Pajo). The self-titled Aerial M album (long EP?) with "Wedding Song No.2" and "Compassion for M" is particularly nice. Your post just reminded me to throw it on again, and i'm probably goign to be listening to it for a couple days straight now :D cheers, /derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- now with HTML --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You need to listen to it a few more times, then you'll realize how great it actually is (like I did). I kind of approached the same way at first, like "this is kinda like the "early" stuff but not as cool", but the truth is that it's not like the early stuff despite the return to fast breaks and all that and should be judged on its own merit I think.
