Dear IDM Friends, Sean, and Rob- I want you all to know that I awoke early this morning, trembling with anticipation. Why? Because I was going to napster the new autechre album while at work. On the way there, I slipped "Chichlisuite" into the Cd player and hummed along to "Krib" as I sped to work, pals sweaty with hearing the new offering from my (former) heroes. Once I was logged in to my computer, I quickly started up my copy of napster and started looking... I found 1... 2... 3... etc. Pretty soon I had the entire album, but I wated until all the downloads were done before listening. I turned the harsh flourescent light in my office off and hit play on "VI Scose Pose". Shocked, I skipped to the next file, and then to the next. Pretty soon I found that I skipped my way through the entire album!!! WHAT WAS HAPPENING??!?!? Is this autechre? I began to cry. Now, after "ep7" came out I emailed Sean and Rob and asked them to incorporate more melodies and chord progressions into their songs. I also asked them to cut down on the use of Hyperprism FX and quirky digital programming. While they never responded to my messages, I got the sense that they had heard me and realized the errors of their ways. They're geniuses, but sometimes, things don't always work quite right. But now I know they did not hear me, or they did not care. Sean and Rob don't seem to give a damn for those of us who are devoted fans and who know more about the scene than they do. I give them my love, time, and emails and I get rewarded with "Cornfield" or should I say "Cornhole". I'm so hurt, I'm a very emotional person. It just dosen't make any sense. It sounds like they spent a few minutes letting their cats run about on their samplers, then cut it into tracks and bribed warp to release it. I blame Warp too. I'm so disappointed. I was hoping for a return to the "Chichlisuite" era sound, but instead I got a record that Funkstorung could have done better. Fortunately, there are enough other IDM artists out there ready to fill the shoes of the dead gods. Sean and Rob, if you guys read this, please contact me off list with an explanation, or I will not buy the CD. ha, I recommend maybe sharing your feelings with a professional. I can recommend a good therapist. Look up Dr. Stopyerfuckinwhinin. People are mad. This seems like the plot of some , fan loves musician, musician disappoints fan, fan becomes angered and tracks down musician, kidnaps them and puts them in a little pit in their basement until they please deranged fan movie. I am looking for any websites or addresses that sell IDM merchandise/paraphenilia such as t-shirts, iron-on patches, buttons (for my IDM jean jacket), posters, zippo lighters, baseball caps (or more likely berets), and maybe even coffee mugs. Please don't direct me to commercial sellout record label sites such as Warp, Rephlex, Plus 8, etc. I am looking for obscure shit. I want names that norms can't pronounce! None of this Plaid, Autechre, Kit Clayton commercial shit. The IDM scene is dying a slow death. No scene can survive without ... posers! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! No scene can survive without ... posers!>> Butt, I can't answer most of your questions, but I heard there's an email discussion group somewhere devoted to the topic of IDM. You might want to find this underground society, if you can, and email them your questions. But I *can* help you on the beret tip... There's a good selection at http://www.villagehatshop.com/hats_berets.html . In my opinion the Parkhurst Pointelle in red is the most IDM of the selected berets. One size fits most! I wear mine whenever I participate in IDM-related events, i.e., sitting in my bedroom by myself with the stereo on, masturbating periodically. It just doesn't get any more underground than that. I wish you luck. ps. Right on with the poser bashing! Posers suck! So does sarcasm! Thinly veiled sarcasm sucks too! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
