I second this. I probably had close to ten different RDJ cds (including the Aphex Twinkie, Polygon Window and Caustic Window cds) and liked two or three or four songs from each of them. Now with the ubiquitous cd burning technology and storage space at my house at a premium, I'm going through my entire catalog and slimming down by making compilation cds and selling the originals back to the stores. Every Richard D. James song I ever liked fits on two cds. Perfect for road trips. Pissing people off with noisemaking isn't very clever, inspired - following him like some sort of sycophant with retrofitted insights on his actions to explain away the unwarranted veneration is even less so. Kinda reminds me of the psychology experiment where people, playing a game against an opponent came to believe that the opponent was a malicious genius when, in fact, it was a random number generator.

What are you even refering to ? People are just curious because Aphex has always made great music and he hasn't released anything in a while. there is no right or wrong here. It's all about opinions, which people should share...but in a constructive way, not in an insulting, belittling, etc. way. Thats the problem I've seen from the first day I was on this list, people are just randomly firing off insults (especially Dipthong) to people. Thats not the reason the list was created.

I agree, this is pretty uninspired stuff, but I feel Aphex Twin has always put out a fair proportion of "fucked up nothing" mixed in with a few gems.

I think that this is definately fucked up nothing, this is still highly listenable and enjoyable. I found that "Go Plastic" was far harder to hear and enjoy. But I think thats what Mr James excels at, making highly complex music that is still enjoyable and that doesn't give you a headache. I have found both Confield and Go Plastic very inaccesable at times, and having to shift down a gear for enjoyable music, and aphex is always there to help with music that is all at once just as functional IDM. God, I'm starting to sound like I-D-old-Men.
