Wanted to know what people thought about this software. Is it difficult? I've heard what Kid 606 does with it, but can it be used to do experimental/underground hip-hop tracks (like Visionaries or Automator on Deltron)? Is there better software for doing this kind of production? What do you recommed? I'll be using an Apple G4 computer. Thanks. shephrd@earthlink.net | "Upgrade your grey matter ::: Deltron Zero ::: | because one day it may matter." --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yea, Reaktor can be used to make pretty much anything... It's basically modular softsynth, you can make any sound that you can imagine (and your processor can handle) with it. -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Reaktor has potential to achieve all musik realizations. Konception of such machines require time vested and when understanding is met, such machines reach capacity for professionalism. Reaktor is capable of all genres, yes, even Gregorian acid polka. Twerk At 03:35 PM 1/5/01 -0500, you wrote:

I don't think Reaktor is anything more to do with underground hip-hop than an SP-12 does, although I think an SP-12 has more street cred. They are both machines and they can make sounds. Reaktor is a good tool but it's very particular on a Mac when working with other programs, especially Logic Audio. I think the best program for making Underground hip-hop tracks is your own creativity. I'd recommend reading up on how sequencers work and experimenting with them, then move on to samples and digital audio. Find some good samples and put together a beat, just drums and a bassline. After that you can get into sound synthesis, find a good synth and put together a different bass line. And finally, learn about trackers, as they have a long history on the computer music timeline. Once you know about the tools, you can find the ones that work. But in the end you can reduce electronic music production to a few things: Sequencers, synthesizers, samplers and filters. My biggest gripe with Reaktor is the manual. It's difficult to discover new things, as they tend to be poorly documented. -l on 1/5/01 12:35 PM, Michael Shepherd at shephrd@earthlink.net wrote:

to put it simply, reaktor kicks ass. Not only can you make everything yourself, but you can set the knob parameters. In effect, its a free formed sound universe. (almost, pretty damn close)....it is a bit difficult, but w/ the help menus and plenty of tinkering it's some serious shit. Just listen to those kid 606 ripping distortions for example....gotta love it. The fun part is not knowing anything and connecting stuff! you get some crazy sounds. d --- Michael Shepherd <shephrd@earthlink.net> wrote:
