i just got this release from ludovic navarre the other day. pretty good melange of jazz and electro... well... more house than anything... but i like it. it's easy listening, and gets repetitive here and there, but overall, it's very well put together. navarre actually plays the role of "conductor" with several guest musicians playing with him on the tracks. and on a side note, what's with the metal strip on the inside of the cd? i remember when i bought this cd that the detectors went off as i was leaving the record store... does anyone else have this? :P jon _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. I just received this disc as a house warming gift. What a score. Nice mix of Jazz/House/Dub/Blues/Down Tempo/Stuff. Pretty impressed. I notices some James Brown and Dub Reggae references among others. I had no idea that Blue Note was dabbling in the electronica arena. Are there any other good releases like this on Blue Note. To comment on your side note, I can't seem to find the metal strip that you mentioned however I may have taken it off in a drunken stupor. I'm sure it's not that important but where was it? - c np tarwater - remix ep At 10:47 PM 10/14/2000 -0400, Jonathan Lau wrote:

You haven't? His "Boulevard" album from '95 (F Communications) is a mega classic and regarded as a must-have by the more deep- housey set. It's ever so pleasant on a Sunday afternoon sipping cool mixers down by the pool ... Not to beat this metal strip thing to death but I still don't see it. Did your CD come in a typical jewel case or is it cardboard like mine? Thanks for the Navarre tip. This is my first exposure to him. Any idea what his other stuff is supposed to sound like? - c At 09:49 PM 10/16/2000 -0400, Jonathan Lau wrote:

Nice lp! I was bugging everyone about it a few months ago. You probably have other stuff from him in your collection without even knowing it. I believe he has some other projects on F Communications (FNAC), and goes under Soofle on Fragile. If you like the St Germain lp, there's a pretty decent chance you will like Nuspirit Helsinki on Jazzanova-Compost Records. They also have other release on other labels, but I don't like the others ones nearly as much. Great 12" --- Jonathan Lau <pdb802@hotmail.com> wrote:

They're on the inside of the tray that actually holds the cd. They put them inside so you can't just take the wrapper off to steal cds. The sales associates are supposed to deactivate them before they go into your shopping bag.. but sometimes they don't work according to plan. jimmy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
