Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is any actual difference between the music put out under Autechre and the stuff put out under Gescom? And if anyone could let me know the reason why they do this 2 names thingy? I've only heard Gescom's "Snakewitch" so far.... Gescom is like 16 people, Autechre is two. Sean and Rob from Ae are part of Gescom but they aren't neccessarily involved with everything Gescom does. I think since the Gescom Enterprises tag was all over Ae's first album, the idea got out that Gescom was just them. Apart from a few exceptions (I think Snackwitch is one of them) you probably wouldn't guess it had anything to do with Autechre as much of Gescom's output has more of a comical appeal to it. Ged from Skam told me about a show that they played at a church in Manchester a few years ago: the whole crew wore lab coats, bandages over their heads and played random tracks from mini-discs of 2 second snippets of Top 40 hits for like 45 minutes. I think the whole crew is just out to have fun and since Ged and Andy are part of the collective, they get to put their records out on Skam. josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi On Fri, 9 Jun 2000, Scott McKeating wrote:

Gee ... I'd recommend you sit at home and listen to EP7 about twenty or thirty times until you realise just how carefully made, inventive and gorgeous those tracks are. I found it all too arbitrary when I first bought it, but something made me come back and listen again and again, and suddenly I realised it might be their best and most mysterious record yet, eclipsing even Amber and Chiastic Slide. It stands repeated listening better than any record I can think of in the last five years. outpt is just a tweak track. They programmed a nifty filter to put on some drones and mixed up a nifty glitch hip hop beat under and ran it for 7 minutes. -mark --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
