Can anybody confirm/provide more info as far as what label these are on and if I've got the titles right? Web search was no help at all, and I wanna try to track these down. Quality electro. Jackyl and Hyde "Beyond" 12" on Hallucination (don't know if the title and label are correct) Jackyl and Hyde "Get Down to My Technique" 12" (have no idea what label this is on) And if anyone's got insight on the Dynamix comp. Rephlex released not too long ago I'd be grateful. Old material or new, what kind of electro? Placing an order to WarpNet and I didn't know if this was worth scoring. (and whatever happened to that electro-breaks list?) ____________________________________ Brock Phillips - bphil@email.unc.edu WXYC 89.3 FM The New Science Experience Tune in every Sunday night 10-12 AM EST http://www.wxyc.org for live RA broadcast Promos, demos, etc. welcome for submission Email for postal address and details... Old material or new, what kind of electro? } Placing an order to WarpNet and I didn't know if this was worth scoring. i believe rephlex just rereleased the album _electro megamix_ originally on joey boy records and changed the artwork. here's the blurb on the front of the joey boy cd: "one non stop hour of dynamix ii from 1985 to present". unfortunately, there is no year listed when the cd came out, but it definitely came out in '93 or later since some tracks from their _bass planet_ album from '93 are on it. the electro is a clean sounding techno/electro/bass fusion -- when i say "clean", i mean don't expect rough, distorted edges like i-f or electronome, for instance. here's the tracklisting: 1. introduction 2. don't touch that dial 3. feel the bass 4. technology 5. 1 million mhz 6. ignition 7. techno bass 8. dj's go beserk 9. bass generator 10. atomic age 11. just give the dj a break (remix) 12. energy 13. ii evolve 14. dreamscape 15. hypnotic 808 } (and whatever happened to that electro-breaks list?) it's still alive a kicking. here's how to subscribe: send e-mail to: majordomo@outside.organic.com In the body of the message place the appropriate command from the following list: (Do not put the command in the subject header of the e-mail message!) subscribe electro-breaks <your address> hope this helps. __________________________________________ E r i c F r a n s :: efrans@earthlink.net cellular | si-{cut}.db | so-cal idm swope transmissions http://home.earthlink.net/~efrans on: robert rich - numena

Well, they're in fact the same 12". Beyond on side A and Get Down To My Technique on side B. It's Hallucination Record's hal008. I wouldn't compare it to the old DynamixII, but it isn't bad. It's a bit saturated with effects and the distorted sound doesn't cut the mix (i.e. it's a bit overwhelming). The underlying beat is pretty good though. If they took a more minimal approach I think I could get into it more. It seems as though Scott Weiser and Todd Walker were trying to throw too much in there all at once. Personally I like all the Detroit Electro MUCH better. I'm also enjoying Carl A. Finlow and IF and the German electro (like Electrecord). I'd also recommend anything Selway is involved with. I can't speak for anything on Rephlex (DMX Crew) or Breakin'. I haven't heard it. As a matter of fact, this Jackal & Hide 12" is making me a bit wary of getting the Dynamix II. -rbc3
