Well, they're in fact the same 12". Beyond on side A and Get Down To
My Technique on side B. It's Hallucination Record's hal008. I
wouldn't compare it to the old DynamixII, but it isn't bad. It's a
bit saturated with effects and the distorted sound doesn't cut the mix
(i.e. it's a bit overwhelming). The underlying beat is pretty good
though. If they took a more minimal approach I think I could get into
it more. It seems as though Scott Weiser and Todd Walker were trying
to throw too much in there all at once.
Personally I like all the Detroit Electro MUCH better. I'm also
enjoying Carl A. Finlow and IF and the German electro (like
Electrecord). I'd also recommend anything Selway is involved with. I
can't speak for anything on Rephlex (DMX Crew) or Breakin'. I haven't
heard it. As a matter of fact, this Jackal & Hide 12" is making me a
bit wary of getting the Dynamix II.
