speaking of pop/idm/commercialism: it's been mentioned before, correctly i think, that orbital are one of the few "mainstream" electronic acts that have maintained somewhat of an idm sensibility, whatever that means. any thoughts on this? does anyone consider orbital to be idm? whenever their name comes up, it's like you can hear an electronic pin drop. i for one consider, and will probably always consider, the brown album to be _the_ classic of electronic listening music, so well-constructed are those tunes. i'll take that any day over your typical (wait for it...) dsp fuckery. and thanks for not thrashing the newbie. considering the recent bitchiness around here i was expecting some kind of violent backlash. nub --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Naahh! If the IDM list were a high school, and you stood up in the cafeteria and asked that Fatboy Slim question, someone would have UNDOUBTEDLY thrown like a little piece of powder doughnut at you - you know, so it bounced off your shirt, leaving a hilarious trail of sugar powder down your clothes - but prolly NO ONE would have tried to beat you up in the parking lot or anything. Now if you drew a "Fatboy Slim" logo on your folder or something, I probably would have inked a "Sux" on it when you werent looking, but thats just me :) ernie NP: Bounty Killer - My Experience Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-4202 Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Fort Worth, Texas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

"Naahh! If the IDM list were a high school" ---------- i don't think this is too far from the truth ..... or it could at least be one of those artsy, drama clubs or an after school debate club. ________ , and you stood up in the cafeteria and asked that Fatboy Slim question, someone would have UNDOUBTEDLY thrown like a little piece of powder doughnut at you - you know, so it bounced off your shirt, leaving a hilarious trail of sugar powder down your clothes - but prolly NO ONE would have tried to beat you up in the parking lot or anything. I think they do have a certain idm sensibility. Orbital always has an interesting choice of noises and a very good sense of melody....i like it. Ebola np: Gridlock
