Yip : it would appear you can take your pick from 3: The original UK import on Blue Planet, featuring the CD plus additional CD containing +- 39 minutes of EP 3. Then there's the US domestic release on NOTHING which has the same CD (minus one track) BUT 2nd CD containing EP's 1, 2 & 3 And now apparently Blue Planet have relented by *also* pressing up the 2nd CD with EP's 1,2,& 3 on it. So..... make an informed choice :-) I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

There are apparently *four* versions of the Plug album on CD: The original one-disc version on Blue Planet (UK). The Blue Planet reissue from earlier this summer, with the Plug 3 EP on a bonus disc. The version on Nothing (US) containing remixed versions of two tracks ("Subtle" and "Cut") and missing another track entirely ("Life of the Mind"), with a bonus disc containing tracks from the Plug 1, 2, and 3 EP's. According to an advertisement, there's yet another version coming on Blue Planet that'll have a bonus disc that's the same or very similar to the second Nothing disc. My advice: buy the Jacob's Optical Stairway album on R&S instead. I actually don't understand what the big deal about Jacob's Optical Stairway is. Sounds very bland to me in terms of rhythmic, timbral, and sample choices, i.e. on all counts in my book. I must be missing something. If you haven't heard it already, run out and buy the Plug album now - I'd say it's one of the few "must-have" releases in the IDM genre. Classic shit. GD

if yer paying more than $17.99 for the 2xcd nothing set, yer getting ripped off. i've seen it at best buy and circuit city for $13.99. And my eyes were filled with tears of joy. surprised no one has had any terse words considering my trent/sqrpshr/autechre revelation. g.

hmm... i like it and all, but it's just *too* long. eighty minutes is a long time for ten faster-paced songs. he could have easily chopped 15 minutes off the album, and i think it would have made the whole thing a lot more listenable. it's just too long to keep you on the edge of your seat. even life of the mind ends up being too long and repetitive. right through the sample from whatever that is (someone talked about it once, but i forget now), it's really killer, but then it goes into the little repeated horn part over and over and over and over and... i dunno, it just feels like time for time's sake. i remember being upset when i heard that the RDJ album was only going to be 33 minutes long. that album sounds more complete to me in less than half the time then dn'b for papa does in almost an hour and a half. so, all in all, i like it, but if i had to do it over again, i most likely would have bought something else. not a classic to these ears. does anyone else agree? alan! np:faithnomore:kingforadayfoolforalifetime ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Yes - and you're a brave soul to have "outed" this publicly, coz it would appear the thing's regarded as a solid nugget..... Best thing to do is to take off a track or two and put them onto a mixed taped, then you don't get the overkill effect. I generally combine a whole variety of sounds over a 90 minute cassette and bliss out with my personal favourites either in the car or on headphones. Great fun! But then, that's just me - others regard this practice as sacrilege. I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre
