G'day, Just wondered if anyone's heard from EAR/Rational lately - I've got a few things on order but I'm not getting any response to my e-mails....EAR/Rational web page says that Dave is away for a bit, but he's responded to my e-mails before when he's been away...anyway, there's supposed to be someone at the store, heh? Anyone have any info? Cheers, Geoff

I've done over 5 years' worth of business with EAR/Rational, and I've had no problems whatsoever. All the CDs I ordered got to me, except the ones he couldn't get, for which I was refunded. Occasionally, I get the CDs before I send the money. Dave's gotten some desperately hard-to-find discs for me. I've received discounts on things *after* I purchased them because the price went down. There are occasional delays, this is true. I wouldn't be too concerned. When he's out of town, I think you're supposed to contact a different address, "eardrum@xmission.com" which is the person sending out packages while Dave is out. In short, I've only found EAR/Rational to be good, honest business for 5 years plus. -- Adam J Weitzman -- Individual, Inc. -- http://www.individual.com -- "We need your fax number in order to respect your wishes not to receive unsolicited faxes." - a Microsoft registration screen

I know I'm one of many who could take the opportunity to second that and I will. Notice you never see Dave clutter up IDM w/a munga for sale list or cat listing et al. Dave also deals w/returns/buybacks gracefully. He even buys back unwanted discs from *other* stores. I like this guy so much I usually send more money they I have to and tell him to keep the change! (Need I mention the old fridge magnet deal!?!? ;) Nicely shouts to bent crayon too who take care of me w/extra attention. Teep

Just a quick question : BentCrayon are the only mail order place I have established any kind of contact with : I've received mail from John C. stating that he'd be prepared to do business with me here in South Africa. Waiting for The Knights Who Say Dot to be back in stock, before I go ahead and place an order - also desperately want Echo Dek (the Adrian Sherwood vs Primal Scream) & a few others that are just plain impossible to hunt down locally. Do you think their prices are high/fair/reasonable? I have no idea what things cost in the US, but by the time postage etc. has gone on top of the advertised prices, it still comes out pretty high. Are there any other companies you would feel happy to recommend? With all the current talk of bad traders and defunct companies etc. I am facing a bit of a dilemma, since it works out very expensive from here because our currency is very weak. (Cannot trade privately or buy used CD's, since the only means of payment is via c/card - cannot get foreign currency out of this country ... blah.) Thanks for listening! I *

Since "bad trader" labels are being flung around this list like Aqua-Net on the Nashville Network, I'm going to give a virtual "attaboy" to some trusted net music vendors I've always received excellent service from: Modern Music EAR/Rational Music Submerge/Somwhere In Detroit Seventh City And then there is a certain unnamed individual who was slandered a couple of weeks ago (hint: he posts from hyperreal.org) and who still hasn't received an apology from a certain yutz talking from the side of his neck. -d.w.

Man. It seems as though saying 'Teep' on IDM is almost as bad as saying 'cunt' in church. Aran's a beautiful person. I've dealt with him almost a dozen times without a hitch. TEEP TEEP TEEP. g.

How can anyone forget Modern Music??? (www.modernmusic.com) PJ's service is prompt or else he immediately sends an email explaining things. Also, anyone who goes through the trouble of calling me (from overseas!) for my credit card details instead of having me call him, deserves a lot of credit in my book.
