From WarpNet: -- There will also be a special limited edition promo double pack (featuring some cheeky tDR artwork). 500 of these are going to be made available to warpmart customers only and will be only way you can get the second CD on vinyl. Sire Records will be releasing both CDs combined as one mini-album domestically in the United States. -- The DR artwork is a pretty cool idea - not seen it yet though. There are white label tests as well but I dunno if any left-over tests will be the promo'd versions or whether all promos will have the different artwork. Whatever. || [CiM] || simonw@sol.ftp.com || -

ok, so i've had the Ventolin cd5 for a couple years now, with something like 9 or 11 tracks or something like that...I just saw the vinyl edition at the local record shop. Had a selection of the different mixes, and a little sticker on the front that said: part one of a two-part set. part two to include mixes from Luke Vibert, bunch of others i don't remember...Which one is the Vibert mix? (hey gimmie a break i lost my cd case) the listing is as follows for part 2: WAP60R/WAP60CDR A1. Ventolin (Wheeze Mix) A2. Ventolin Carharrack Mix A3. Ventolin Probus Mix B1. Ventolin (Cylob Mix) B2. Ventolin (Deep Gong Mix) Also who's this Morgan Geist character? Saw an 'extrememly limited edition of 1500' 12" with two tracks on it on clear records, white cover with a little car on it? sheesh. put the needle on it in the shop and determined within 3 or 4 minutes that i could make a better tune with just a vocoder and my bowels. maybe it's one of those repeat-listen things? i dunno. Autechre's 2x12" 'cichlisuite' tickles me in places i didn't know i had. bleepy electro breaks n stuff with a very arid feel, like crunchy static. it's big fun with one plate on phono1 and the other on phono2, trying to mix it together. Finally got 'Feed me weird things' and 'Port Rhombus' on vinyl, so that makes me all toasty, too...didn't particularly click with anything on 'Squarepusher plays...' though... And Cup of Tea records is quite a dandy label. the only problem being everything i pick up has got the cup o tea logo on one side, and a white label on the other, so i have no idea who's doing what and what they're calling their stuff.....Some jungly stuff, some downtempo stuff...ah, yes. But remembers kids, all these statements, as factual as they may seem, are merely the opinions of a disgruntled dj stuck in the midwest, and we ain't talkin' Chicago... But i leave y'all with a pair of questions! can someone repost the track listing for that release of the 'Ghost in the Shell' playstation game soundtrack? and, a more general query: what are your favorite recent releases? Piiiiiizzzzaaaaaa, -s

Morgan Geist is a net.guy from way back, and a decent musician, and nice guy. I've not heard the Clear record, but I've also seen it referred to on idm as a really good record. And if you can make better music with your bowels, you can open up for Aphex Twin -- he'd love that kind of action. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Psyche manifests as psychic through something we call 'winding', because it twists, and puts things that were far apart next to each other, complicatedly, taffywise." -- winona on channel 78 Kent Williams kent@inav.net -- http://soli.inav.net/~kent

caution: babbling ahead: Yeah, i knew i might catch a bit of heat from that comment...But what can i say? some of the shit that goes so highly-touted on this list is precisely that: shit. I recalled ppl discussing this guy Geist on the list a little while ago and it sounded interesting, but was disappointed to find what i thought was just mediocre dabblings in a territory already well-mapped by other artists...however the key phrase there is 'what i thought'....opinions opinions opinions. Mr. Geist being a net.guy or a nice.guy...that should matter? i'm not going to meet him. he may or may not get wind of my comments being a net.guy. so that's irrelevant. he's a nice guy so i should feel bad for not liking his record? I'm a nice guy and a lot of people hate my dj sets. they tell me that _while i'm spinning them_. but it's just criticism and opinions. it's just one 2-track record. who knows, his next plate may cause me to fall down and spasmatically soil myself in a seizure of joy. I never write off an artist based on one record. And ok, let me add a sampler to my bowels/vocoder act, then maybe i'll give Dicky J a call... -s

Deep Gong Mix is the Vibert one. You ought to be able to hear that!:) My (vinyl) copy has an additional "asthma beats mix" (134 secs though )by aphex right after Deep Gong. /hroi
