I will listen, I will delete. I'm giving it a chance but am almost completely convinced it will just be Squarepusher doing a Squarepusher record, not something to cherish, savour and enjoy. Sent from some iDevice. Written by Esa.

I have the same issue with Venetian Snares. He's put out so much music, and it's always excellent, but if you've made 10 CDs worth of excellent Venetian Snares CDs, and you make an eleventh and it's basically the same thing again, I'm not as excited to hear it. If you make a perfect CD, do something different even if half your fan base doesn't like it, you're doing it right. As far as Squarepusher goes, "Music Is One Rotted Note" is a favorite, because it isn't a shiny drill-core record. It's a re-imagining of "In A Silent Way" era Miles Davis, only darker and rougher. That crappy spring reverb ambiance makes it sound like he's playing inside a closed box car. Compared to the standared SQP aesthetic, it's just wrong. And sometimes wrong is right. Music is One Rotted Note is so good. Budakhan Mindphone, too. He did some really sweet things like Varkatope - really dark and brooding things - what he's doing now is shinier and cleaner but somehow not as effective. Obviously he's great at what he does, but I want him to risk failure more. On 20 February 2015 at 17:35, kent williams <chaircrusher@gmail.com> wrote:

Too many number one hits for sure. Rotted note is great but didn't everyone hate it when it came out? Same with ultra visitor, weren't people like wishing he'd go back to big loada style tracks? All of his albums are great and different enough that there's a range to listen to. The last record has a cool evolved go plastic/do you know squarepusher vibe I think. I could do without the dubstepish stuff but now that we're out of that era in music I'm reminded that dub was always a part of his sound. I'm excited about the new album. Like the last one I don't think the teaser track will be representative of the effort as a whole. On Friday, February 20, 2015, Esa Ruoho <esaruoho@gmail.com> wrote:

Massively takes the piss live (like Al Pacino doing an OTT impression of himself in Devil's Advocate). If you can find any rhythm in his all out I'm-gonna-fuck-your-brain type stuff then you should work for a government agency as a code breaker or something. I'm hoping for something different on this new album. Mem
