the limited edition number have to be bullshit, or these labels own their own record presses, because with costs like: $120 per side mastering, $87 per side for 2-step processing, $110 for labels, $40 for test pressings, and then $.95 for each record pressed, then $.37-$.42 for each jacket (with just a die-cut center), what is that... about $820? then selling to distributors for what $3.75 each?? where's the point in releasing only 100 or 200 copies. at least 500-1000 to be worth it. So, is LIMITED EDITION real or marketing? are the only 100-200, or 1000? (and the label is just sitting on the other copies letting them sneak out one by one at collector prices)

In the case of the Mask material, if all said be true, in an interview @ the place previously referred to as 4th World (dammit, got to change all them darn links =) its laid out as the Mask records were pretty much limited to what they are because they were only doing up what they thought would be of interest and basically for themselves. Personally, if I did up 12"s of my own stuff and some friends, I'd do the same (of course, there WOULDN'T be interest beyond just us, but that completely beside the point =) Chris brap@sonic.net HeathenNet: http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ C.Gosselin, PO Box 8264, Santa Rosa, CA 95407 **Dot, Black Dog, P-Orridge, RealAudio, Reviews** **Search Engine, BBS, & Other Stuff Like That..** *************************************************

Zavody is cool! jacket for free from the Czech-rebuplic.. 260 DEM for mastering & 100 * 2.60 come to 520 DEM in total (or 2.16 in case of 200) that's without transport cost and vat. they distribute them themselves. for the real cult check the website of the MAS/MASK press plant http://www.pvtnet.cz/www/gramofonove/ and make your own "220 gram Mask-like record", limited to 100 pieces too!

erm could be, but of course prices for pressing vary quite considerably. mask 2 doesn't have a sleeve, just a plastic wallet, and i'm sure the labels will have cost less than that
quoted 1 line then selling to distributors for what $3.75 each??> then selling to distributors for what $3.75 each??
i don't think so - the price here in manchester was 9 pounds, about twice as much as a regular release
quoted 1 line where's the point in releasing only 100 or 200 copies.>where's the point in releasing only 100 or 200 copies.
at least they would be sure of selling every copy very quickly, even at the higher price. and whether you agree with it or not it creates a buzz with the listeners
quoted 1 line at least 500-1000 to be worth it.> at least 500-1000 to be worth it.
then have it languishing in bargain bins and used racks for 2.99? way too uncool.

could be - who knows? and i'm not so sure about this czech vinyl thing - the new jega ep is pressed at the same place, and i have some french 7" singles pressed there too. the plant could be in france, a lot cheaper to distribute to the uk. cheerio! np - night of the living baseheads - public enemy \/\/\/\/\/+++++''''|||| SALFORD SOUNDS - YOUR'E GRANNY WOULN'DT LIKE IT WE DRINK BEER ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Sounds pretty darn cool to me!
