People with turntables: Have you ever had a record where the stylus/needle vibrates on a bass-heavy part of a track? I've set the anti-skating to 3 and also pressure to 3, and turned the tonearm weight backwords and put it all the way up, it fixes it a bit, but sometimes it still skips the record on bass heavy parts, the records that this happens on are (and it's tested on more than one turntable, also at the record store): Beck: The New Pollution (track4, Richard's Hairpiece) AFX Girl/Boy EP: Track 1, Girl/Boy song Seefeel: CH-VOX - track 5.. ashdecon It's ok now, but still Richard's Hairpiece skips backwords at one point in the track, causing it to loop forever :I there are no scratches on any of the vinyls, i've checked this of coz =) ps: i've got sl1200mk2 ;d -- __ __\ \ Aurafix aka Hillie / PHD ^ DAMONES (aka Rare Guy) / /_\ \ http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html \_____/ >> buh@clark.net >> < > .. >> .<>> >> > , m7= inducing mindwaves.. electronic techno muuusik controlled manually by a p h e x t wi n .. .. . . .

Never had a problem, since I changed the way I had my 1200's set up anyway...i used to (when i first got them about 6 years ago) have them set up the way the manual tells you to, but thats just rubbish, when i got to uni several DJ type people that I met set them up properly for me, with the weight all the way up so the needle is as heavy as it can be, since then, no wobbly problems.... (one of my other friends also had his set up the way the manual says and he used to put 10 pence pieces on top of the arm to weight it down, until i told him...) -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

You're ruining your rekkids, mate. The problem is, vinyl isn't designed for the sort of low frequencies that they're putting on it these days. (chalk up yet another advantage for CDs) Used to be that mastering engineers knew this and filtered out the lows. I guess Mr. Porky Prime has no such compunctions... Audiophile places used to sell these plastic alignment discs to get the stylus angle, tracking force, and counterweight set up so as to cause the least wear possible. I wouldn't be surprised if someone doesn't still make them. I borrowed one once and was amazed with the results.

yeah. we've had quite a few problems with sloppy cuts (needing re-cuts) that way semi-recently, but a move back to townhouse nipped that in the bud.

yeah. don't forget 1210's may be fun but they are pretty shit as hifi decks get yourself a rega planar or something similar (sonndeck - drool) before they stop making them. g.

Too right. I sold my Rega Planar 2 a few months back because I thought I didn't really need 3 turntables. Now, records that would cause my closet doors to vibrate open can't even be tracked on my 1210s. The bass that thing produced could never be reproduced by a CD (or my 1210s :( ) -Christina NP - DJ Assault : Straight Up Detroit Shit Vol. 1
