an AMAZING record! of course it is ... it's on Leaf. Sons of Silence is Andrew Hulme of O Yuki Conjugate (with other OYC folks?) "Silence Go Boom!" is the lead-in track of their Leaf 12" (DOCK 6), the "Suited and Booted" EP. it's probably the most hyperactive thing on the record, with the other three tracks falling into a lazier (but still excellent) dub/light jungle mode. anyone know what's up with Leaf? it's been forever since this record came out! they don't even have a spot on the Hyperreal label page. any reason for this? G-II Leaf addict - and friggin' proud. np. Spectrum "Songs for Owsley"

About Leaf: It's a London record label founded last year by London 4AD employee Tony Morley. He has an interest in dance band, which until recently 4AD has shyed away from. 4AD has ignored the dance/IDM market far too long IMHO, although Gus Gus sounds promising... Leaf's first release was a 4-track compilation EP called Invisible Soundtracks Volume 1 (REEL 1), released last summer. Tony Wilson and Neil Halstead (of Slowdive/Mojave 3 fame) have a song on it called "A Harsh Truth" under the name ZURICH. This track sounds just like it could be an outtake from "Pygmalion", for any of you Slowdive fans in the audience. Rest of the EP is blissful ambience. I could be wrong but I think Sons of Silence is the same person reponsible for O Yuki Conjugate. No more info except the record on Leaf is great. Jeff

. . picked the CD Spring Forward:Fall Back and must mention it on this list, to bring back a semblance of music discussion. . this release is such a deviation from most everything discussed here. . this is truly a gem, full of slow, wandering beats and hilarious samples, with a brooding, melancholy tone throughout. . who are these guys, and are the 12"s by them in this vein? these guys are taking it in a refreshingly new direction. . . --- jeff */* "you'd be paranoid too if everyone was out to get you" */* - Spaceghost

The 7" is brand new and features the title track on one side and a Black Helicopters remix on the other. The 12" came out last year some time (although I think it was reissued this week along with the 7") and features "Bobby Dazzler" along with 2 or 3 other tracks. And I think this release is actually called "The <xxx> EP" where <xxx> is some name which isn't the title of any of the tracks on the record. Greg
