Hi, I guess I should say I'm sorry for the lack of IDM content, but well... Just curious. Since I've talked to lots of people from this list who seems to be "vinyl-fanatics" or something, and personally I haven't got anything against vinyl, I have a question. I've been thinking about something... Is is possible to make the tracks closest to the edge, or should I say the first track(s) on each side, better or more detailed? I mean if the first track looks like this: ". . ." the last track will look like this: "...". So there's more space to fill. See what I mean? I'm not very good in explaining this in english, but I guess you understand my question. If anyone's got an intelligent answer, I'd be grateful. Thanks, Franz. playing:propellerheads:dive,kinesthesia:cylob-mu-ziqremixes!!(empathyboxrmx)

There is more space to fill at the edge than nearer the center, but the speed at which the edgetrack spins is higher than the speed of the centertrack, because the rotation speed is the same, e.g. 33 rpm, but the edgetrack is more away from the center and speed=radius*rotationspeed. So the space between the dots is larger at the edge, but the speed as well, so the actual time between the dots remains the same. On a related tip: I've been told that pressing at 33 or 45 has a different effect on the volume, one (which one?) is louder than the other. Is this true and what is the explanation? Otto

Yes, I know. That's what I mean. Is it easier to make a ultrafast track closer to the edge, than closer to the center? Franz thinks that he maybe should drop it for the sake of other IDMers...

It's not very strange. The louder the volume, the wider and deeper the groove due to the increased amplitude of oscillation. The wider the groove, the less you can fit on the record.
