I decided to start a little thread that may lead to something interesting. I named it "what happened to???" because that's exactly what it is. Every so often I'll dig into my crates and pull out an old track and ask if anyone knows about its origins and what the artist is up to now. I know there are a lot of serious people "in the know" out there and hopefully this will spark some interesting knowledge from them. Here's the first one: _drum roll_ I have two records on a UK label called Wax Factory Productions. One is called Smooth & Simmonds Present Pucker Tunes Vol I and the second is called Panic. Does anyone know who Jack Smooth and Chris Simmonds are and if they are still writing? These two records are interesting and have so much potential for records written in '90. Also does anyone else have any other tracks on this label and what do you think of them? Thanks and I hope you like the thread idea. Interesting question as I've wondered about that myself :-) A couple of months ago, I bought a 12" called 'Vertigo' written by Jack Smooth and Chris Simmonds for Wax Factory Productions which dates from 1995. The label is Bomba Recordings [BOMB 12020]. I got it after only a brief listen, because for some daft reason I thought it was Jeremy Simmonds of Vibert/Simmonds/Weirs. (I do sometimes suffer from trainspotting gone wrong disease) Nervous hi-hats, standard handclap/house beats, some spatial synth whooshing in the background, the occasional change of pace, you can dance to it, but ... In short: it doesn't do /anything/ for me. You're welcome to it. Helen
