The next wave of Swedish electronics has arrived! Just received the new Boulderdash release on Recordings Under Construction called 'We Never Went To Koxut Island'. You may recognize Hans Moller and Daniel Skaborn operating under the Juicehead guise (also on RUC), as well as working with the folks at Audionaut Records based in Stockholm, Sweden. The Juicehead project relied on experimental drum and bass to produce a soundscape of rich texture's and swift drum programming. This time around we get to hear Boulderdash and their unique array of lovely sounds. 'We Never Went..' is a sonic palette of subtle hip-hop beats and intricate melodies, fusing jazz elements with a relaxed atmosphere of hyper-funk and crispy rhythms. My ears are pleasantly awakened to hear Hans and Daniel creating music that expands your thoughts and relaxes your body. Think of Autechrean beats with a Boards of Canada attitude, and Boulderdash levitates peacefully in this area of abstract yet calming electronics. Check out the RUC label at the following url for more information: www.ruc.com. You might want to check www.audionaut.com for other fine releases such as Dribs' 'In Dribs & Drabs', Spinform's 'To Hear is Not To Listen' amongst others. Tracklisting for 'We Never Went To Koxut Island' p + c 2000, Artelier Music under exclusive license to Recordings Under Construction: 01 Window of opportunity 02 Cadillacs never die 03 Three minute culture 04 Genderless 05 Headless in a topless bar 06 Dregs of tar 07 Done that for five fast years 08 Casio kid Pietro. ___________________________________________ p i e t r o d a s a c c o a u d i o - n i m b u s c j a m 91.5 fm saturdays from midnight - 2am EST 9745 lynngrove cr, windsor, ontario, n8r 1b8, canada g r o o v e s m a g a z i n e www.groovesmag.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I want to second Pietro's compliments of the the Boulderdash cd on RUC. Just got this today and it is by far one of the strongest melodic idm records i've heard in some time. I've listened to the album 4 times today. It reminds me of a plod meets early-plaid meets smoker's delight-era nightmares on wax with a touch of solvent. yes it's that strong. But dont take my word for it. you can check out RA bits of the album at: http://www.audionaut.com/boulderdash/ -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Weird how this release can keep playing on repeat mode and you don't even notice that the tracks have repeated. The Solvent reference is a good point.. Soft melodies with snappy beats, and a flow that is consistent all throughout put's this one a notch above the rest. Now if only i had the time to write about the nice stuff coming out of Delsin (Holland), Carpark (NY), Ambidextrous (Russia), and Focus (UK). Lance, if you've picked up on these, let's get the mini-reviews going! I can't find my Pietrobot review-machine, so the Lancebot will have to take over! ; ) Pietro. ___________________________________________ p i e t r o d a s a c c o a u d i o - n i m b u s c j a m 91.5 fm saturdays from midnight - 2am EST 9745 lynngrove cr, windsor, ontario, n8r 1b8, canada g r o o v e s m a g a z i n e www.groovesmag.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
