The next wave of Swedish electronics has arrived! Just received the new Boulderdash release on Recordings Under Construction called 'We Never Went To Koxut Island'. You may recognize Hans Moller and Daniel Skaborn operating under the Juicehead guise (also on RUC), as well as working with the folks at Audionaut Records based in Stockholm, Sweden. The Juicehead project relied on experimental drum and bass to produce a soundscape of rich texture's and swift drum programming. This time around we get to hear Boulderdash and their unique array of lovely sounds. 'We Never Went..' is a sonic palette of subtle hip-hop beats and intricate melodies, fusing jazz elements with a relaxed atmosphere of hyper-funk and crispy rhythms. My ears are pleasantly awakened to hear Hans and Daniel creating music that expands your thoughts and relaxes your body. Think of Autechrean beats with a Boards of Canada attitude, and Boulderdash levitates peacefully in this area of abstract yet calming electronics.
