daeta32: hey man..
daeta32: what do you think of the new lfo album?
StaticBeats: i think the ordering of the tracks is strange
StaticBeats: i like some of the tracks
StaticBeats: but nothing is groundbreaking or different from anything
else out there
StaticBeats: "the return of LFO" it is not
daeta32: so the new lfo..
StaticBeats: yeah
daeta32: it thinks its' fucking dope..
daeta32: i really really like it..
StaticBeats: cool :)
daeta32: as far as groundbreaking..
daeta32: you can't apply that word to idm..
StaticBeats: i havent listened to it straight through more than one time
daeta32: at least in my opinion..
StaticBeats: good point
daeta32: there hasn't been a groundbreaking idm release in like two
years..
daeta32: ever since the whole cutup hiphop phase that prefuse and
machine drum and dabrye started..
StaticBeats: wert
StaticBeats: i like the new luke vibert dude
daeta32: i don't.
daeta32: haha..
StaticBeats: its like classic acid techno
daeta32: it's too generic sounding to me..
daeta32: it sounds too much like it could be anybody..
daeta32: and it's a bit too polished...
daeta32: i used to be obsessed with vibert man..
daeta32: i mean totally obsessed..
StaticBeats: ha ha
daeta32: and i loved his music for a few reasons..
daeta32: and those reasons don't exist in his music any more..
daeta32: i have a theory that he's being lazy, but he's playing it off
like he's trying to put out revival albums..
StaticBeats: ha ha
daeta32: like his amen andrews 12"s and the new I love acid cd...
StaticBeats: the quintessential stoner
daeta32: i'm serious man..
StaticBeats: i believe it
daeta32: i've hung out with him three times...
daeta32: and the first two times..
daeta32: it was for over three or four hours...
daeta32: and it wasn't at a music venue..
daeta32: and i can tell you first hand, that the man is lazy..
daeta32: and he just can't care less at times..
daeta32: if you saw his performance at the warp show in la you would be
pissed.
daeta32: as far as i'm concerned, he hasn't made a really great vibert
release since big soup...
daeta32: everything after that was so gimmicky and polished sounding..
StaticBeats: ha ha
StaticBeats: the critic
daeta32: the releases he put out before that sounded like he made them
in his bedroom..
daeta32: and they were almost unfinished.. they had a warm charm to
them..
daeta32: even his plug material..
daeta32: now he sounds like 100 other artists..
StaticBeats: oh cmon you cant diss plug
daeta32: i'm not..
StaticBeats: that shit was fucking dope when it came out
StaticBeats: i havent even heard big soup
daeta32: i meant even his plug material was fucking insanely good.
StaticBeats: i have it on vinyl
StaticBeats: ah
daeta32: big soup was it..
daeta32: it went into orbit dude..
daeta32: he took his style to a point where many didn't even get it..
daeta32: anything after has sounded like a poor example of what he's
capable of..
daeta32: he had a sound, those popping drums that sounded like they'd be
lightly compressed, those melodies that lingered on and on, those
samples from weird films., all gone in the last three years.
StaticBeats: wow. those are some pretty harsh words man
StaticBeats: you should write a review of the album
daeta32: i was a huge fan...
daeta32: i'm serious..
daeta32: dude, at one point, there was like a two year stretch that he
was my favorite artist of all time..
daeta32: i've got vibert tracks so rare that they weren't even initially
on his disography...
daeta32: i went through hell to get some of that shit too..
daeta32: haha..
daeta32: that was then..
daeta32: when i'd die to just hear one more track of his..
StaticBeats: and now ?
daeta32: i get his releases and i feel like he's not trying..
daeta32: i almost didn't even get his new cd..
StaticBeats: wow
daeta32: it's just not exciting any more..
daeta32: for me.. getting a new aphex album is still exciting...
StaticBeats: time to move on ... ?
StaticBeats: hell yes
daeta32: getting a new autechre album is still exciting..
StaticBeats: Drukqs rocked my twat
daeta32: and my opinion?
StaticBeats: as did men 1
daeta32: paradinas and vibert are done.
StaticBeats: Men 1 hit my clit
StaticBeats: yeah i agree with that
daeta32: unless they start putting some effort into their releases, i'm
not buying any more.
StaticBeats: but it will still sell because of their names
daeta32: of course.
StaticBeats: well then, in the "biz" thats what matters
daeta32: bands like radiohead can put out three chord crap for their
next 10 releases and it'll sell 3 million copies cause they have such a
hardcore fanbase.
StaticBeats: yup
StaticBeats: have you heard the new otto von schirach - chopped zombie
fungus ?
StaticBeats: its fucking dope
StaticBeats: hella noisy
daeta32: nope..
daeta32: dude.
daeta32: this conversation should be posted to the idm list.
daeta32: haha
daeta32: that was some heavy talking.
StaticBeats: okie
StaticBeats: brb
