I think someone who ran a small label (or...?) posted something regarding this to the list about a year ago or so. If you price your CDs for less than the competition, they won't necessarily sell more. In fact, people are more likely to think your CD is crappy, and you're just trying to pawn it off on people. They'll see the small label with the weird names and the $8 CD and thing "my god, that must be crap, they stuffed it full of music, I bet it's stuffed full of crap!" it's weird, but it happens. I'm sure you've occasionally looked at something like, say, a DVD that you've never seen, and thought "wow, this is really cheap. I wonder what's wrong with it.." it's the same with high prices. People figure that since the prices are high, or at least equal, that they're getting quality. You might buy a ton of CDs from a label you've heard of from artists you konw about for cheap, but would you buy a CD, sound unheard, just because it was cheaper? derek -- eggytoast.com -------------- commerce soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
