I certainly wasn't looking for pop songs - I'm not a pop song person (well,
usually). I just feel the new album certainly flows a whole lot more, in the
sense of a fog that's just the same all the way through with no variation, and
you just can't wait to get through it. I'd agree it's personal taste! :)
As far as I'm concerned, it *is* more of the same, except that the stuff that's
the same is not what I had expected or hoped would be the same. I guess you
could say I had hoped they would go one way, but instead they went another.

Definitely agree; the stuff that I did like had little or anything to do with
traditional "IDM" fare. On the other hand, a lot of the new stuff that
everyone else was excited about, I guess I just don't care for. I did fall in
love with books again, though, so that was nice. Everyone go read Kim Stanley
Robinson!
I'm also going through a cleansing phase (that sounds so new-agey!), and have
sold away about half my CD collection (I got rid of almost 400 CDs in the past
few months). It can be fun to get rid of crap you've hardly ever played since
buying it - sometimes not for years!
