while i agree that creativity is not something learned, and that it is not even necessary to learn the boundaries to break them, i cant agree with the great classical composers simply being pop music for their time. there were lots of other composers of the same time period, who we have never heard of, and that is not just chance. 500 years from people will not be looking at ms. spears as a genius. they will still be looking at mozart, beethoven, etc. as such, at least i hope so. and while it is not necessary to study the great musicians/composers/whatever you want to call it of the past, it never hurt anyone to learn a little about greatness.
