yeah, richard devine does have melody in his work, and most of it has some
sort of easily recognizeable melody. at least 2 of the tracks on the
ischemic folks compilation, along with the lily of the valley cd, show off
his ability to use melody. i guess i was meaning more that there was a
distinct *lack* of melody in his music.. not meaning that it's not there,
but that the rhythm gets a lot more attention. of course, this keeps the
melodies simple, which often work best in tracks that have rather complex
rhythms.
or maybe it's just that, in comparison to other recent idm acts, when you
think melody, you don't think richard devine.
