Not only that, but for any artist to whine about fans' predilection for what I assume is differentiation and criticism (pigeonholing) seems to be sour grapes. Obsessed kids of any kind are easy to mock (see "High Fidelity" for close examples), but the only thing that an artist can do about it is to make pieces which defy the obsession and exist outside of any previously-magnified niche. I wonder if some people are consciously doing something like "a clever take on the crunch-and-twinkle" genre and then getting mad that they're being lumped with the rest. The end result is that a bunch of stuff comes out that sounds similar enough to be the same. -- http://www.synthesizer.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
