Yes, totally Orb minded here as well. Clint, you put the words right: with LX as a constant member, contributers largely influence the outcome of particular tracks. I like this idea: you will know what to expect from them, but then again anything could happen as well! Great dub sounds with Lee Perry or the Screen album (with Gaudi and Chester), minimal techno (Thomas Fehlmann), full-sample loaded heavy bass-lined tracks with Youth et cetera, great aural explorations with Kris Weston, Steve Hillage and so forth. The only output that I’m not too keen on is HFB, too jazzy for my ears. But hey: you can’t please them all…
There is supposed to be a new album on Kompakt later this year, I’m still waiting for the DVD’s on the accompanying ‘Adventures Beyond Dark Matter’ release on Abbey Road and there is speaking of a 3rd History Of The Future (focused on the releases with Andy Hughes). The future looks bright J

i actually really enjoy The Dream too, too bad they only managed to do one album with that lineup. same for living in a giant candle winking at god, great stuff if only they could have done another one.
as for fehlmann, yeah i had heard alot of his solo stuff as just 'thomas fehlmann' quite awhile before he became a regular orb collaborator, i wouldn't ever have expected him to be the piece that alex replaced weston with, as the two are so completely different sounding, but his tiny loops and textures and sound beds really work in the new lineup.
i saw them last year in minneapolis, fehlmann and patterson, and it was a great show. clearly just tweaked versions of some of their tracks with some special one-off discs on the cdj for patterson, nothing too fancy, and fehlmann had his macbook synced up and was adding beats and samples and whatnot. a really simple performance, where its probably really easy to transport all the gear, i imagine it must be 1000 times easier than their old mega-setups they toted around.

I like Thomas Fehlmann, but I like Chris Weston more. Patterson seems like the type that dabbles in everything but lets the others do the actual work, and this sometimes shows in their albums. Weston has a temper, sure, he is an angry man, but sometimes, this type of personality creates better art. This is true in painting (Pollack), music composition (Mozart) and every other type of creative medium.
Weston is still putting out some great stuff, even though he is economically crippled now, and he would argue that it is everyone else's fault except his, but if he would just hold back the outrage, just a little, in the effort to keep the peace, perhaps people would work with him a bit longer.
