hmm, i have a lowly 100mhz powermac 8100 and it has never written a
dud yet (except for when i installed a new philips 2600 unit which
turned out to be defective. i got a replacement unit (same model) and
it immediately burned 12 perfect discs).
of course, the mac software doesn't multitask in any way at all, so
once the disc starts writing i just turn off the monitor and go away
for 30 minutes.
try to get software that can use system RAM as buffer space. i use 16
meg of buffer in my cpu and the unit itself has 1mb, so underruns are
very unlikely.
