I'll bite.
Don't have any Photek and just made my first Chris Jeffs purchase on
Saturday.
I'm pleasantly surprised with Cyclobian Sunset. Its not exactly what I
expected and I'm quite enjoying it. I figured from the label (Rephlex)
and the company he's been lumped in with, that the music would be much
noisier, beat oriented, and lo-fi.
But hey! There's melody! WOW!
Tracks one and two are more melody oriented, while the third is
noisy-ish and repetitive. Track four begins very lovely (I'd tape it
for bubble baths in the dark) and builds into something very
Incunabula-ish. Track five begins with an elastic/bouncy thump and
continue in the same vain.
I won't describe each track, but I will be ordering every Chris Jeff's
release in the near future. Glad that new discog is up and running!
From the CD insert: "Cylobian Sunset was recorded between March and
October 1994, at CSRF Manchester and London (except the last track,
which was recorded at Clissolog)"
