No flames intended, just a gripe: did you really have to excerpt Astralwerks *entire* track listing for the comment on Steve Fisk? I know I know, I'm nitpicking, this is an admittedly minor case of things I see on other lists where, for some inexplicable reason, someone will post a three screenful message of nothing but quotes and then add one line of comment--as though the rest of us just joined the list and needed catching up. Again no flames, just bandwidth saving...which brings me to this bit of rumour I picked up: I heard from a friend who works at a telecommunications company laying fiber optics from LA to SF that the US gov't's subsidy of the Internet ends in 1995. Vrai ou faux? Obidm: Does Sun Electric have an(y) album(s) previous to _Kitchen_? see ya Sami Khoury

The US backbone, the Information Superhighway -- to subsidize or to leave it to private enterprize.... It's all up in the air at the moment. Cosmic

I don't know about Sun Electric, but Sun Electric member Thomas Fehlmann has released loads of stuff under his own name, 3MB & Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes, 3MB & Jaun Atkins, plain old 3MB, and I think he is listed on some Orb tracks as well. George

Got my copy on Thursday and I've been soaking it up all weekend. More good stuff out of Astralwerks. A few tracks worth mentioning: Air: Trip #2 - I swear I remember this from the Mixmaster Morris gig in San Francisco. Brilliant and bright. Some of Namlook's best work. Divination: Ancient Evenings (Najm-Al-Din) - Very Laswellish. Great, but nothing out of the ordinary for him. FSOL: Deep Into Your Subconcious I Slide - Good, but SHORT! 3:55. Sounds different than Lifeforms in general. Steve Fisk: Express God - This track is KILLER! I guess Steve has produced bands like Nirvana, Screaming Trees, and Beat Happening. It shows since this sound is a complete 180 degree turn from everything else ambient now. Odd vocals warning us about the express god, surprise beats, distortion-o-matic. This is a noize-lover's ambient pastry. This is coming out as a single on Astralwerks with remixes by Mike Kandel. Can't wait.
