the band is Up Above The World, the tracks are "Trying To Reach You"
and "Trying To Reach Sawaan". it's purple vinyl with black and white
swirls. very pretty.
i don't know where you get "ethereal, dreamy, typically West Coast
trance" from though - it's nightmarish, dissonant, and scary -
absolutely not West Coast at all. much more suited to the east coast
and the UK, i'd say. it's also pretty fast (138 BPM) which rules it
out of 99% of San Francisco gigs...

I was at a HUGE party this weekend with one of the biggest sound
systems i'd ever seen. I wore my plugs the whole time and my head was
still throbbing afterwards. But I had no ringing and no distortion.
I don't care if people think i'm a geek or weird for wearing them -
i'll laugh at them later when they've gone deaf. but of course they
won't hear me then will they...
