Is the Snog really that good? I'm a fan of Black Lung and I like "Corporate Slave" just cause it's so damn catchy, but the "cheesy" factor on some David Thrussell releases really throws me off (i.e. Snog and to a lesser extent Soma). 3. lilienthal - castor&pollux (Emenate) what is this? 7. Steve Roach & Vir Unis - Body electro (projekt) 8. child's view - funfair (bubble core) ech. I wasn't too impressed with either - Roach is consistently megaboring/borderline new age, and child's view is too much in the other direction (as was that Scope cd i thought), though still with the cheesy factor. 9. VA - Dated (Toshok Labs) 10. Oil 10 - Metastases 12" (Hymen) These Oil 10 guys - I picked up a cd in the budget bin that's on Noise Museum and it's really, really good. Dark minimal techno (as dark as it can be when it's this minimal). what's the 12" like? that was one of the more interesting top 10s I've seen here. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Actually I don't know if snog is that good. This is one of those albums you shouldn't like but you still feel compelled to listen to. The ultimate in pop while still retaining an anti-pop stance; because of this it deserves to be in my top 10.

I think it is the third release on emenate. I may have got the name slightly wrong. My advice is get this.

I did not feel that this roach album had a new agey feel to it. The beats are very idm and the atmospherics are top notch. It is very thought out and has a sense of direction/movement. to me it is a true ambient album. It can be easily put into the background or listened to intently. As for child's view, I thought it was able to present a very experimental sound in a whimisical and accessible way.

I gather you have in/out (he has a new one called blocks - haven't heard it yet). The 12 inch is similar but every sound is tweaked. The use of bass on the tracks is quite extrordinary. If you liked in/out you will definitely like this (I think the 12 inch is better). -daniel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
