hopefully you are aware that the city is very lounge and pop house friendly. then lower on the pecking order is minimal techno or legitimate house. then you have a parallel universe of indie rock and the blending of electro and the rock hispters in what i call new disco. idm is definitely on the far end of anything common. so is dos and linux and hacking music. there are one of shows rarely and i would refer to rhythmism.com for those. just watch out for all the club nights. there has been a lot of detroit techno though it seems. Actually, much as I like IDM on my headphones, my feet wish there was more euro techno here, e.g. mondotek (youtube it) ... anyone have any hints? The Sullivan Room in the village gets close sometimes... -Adam Michael Kuszynski wrote:

If I was in NY (which I'm not, by several thousand miles) then based on what I've heard I'd be checking out Sub Swara, Trouble & Bass and Dub War. Not sure if that counts as IDM - it's individualistic electronic music with beats and deepness, which does it for me.
