Maybe somebody can help me with this. Some weeks ago I saw an orchestra in TV playing a song which seemed very familiar to me, but more in another context than classical music. I really didnt now where to put it, but this night something cleared my mind and I suddenly kew it was a track from Aphex Twin called "Icct hedral - (edit)" (from "I care because you do"). Does anybody know more about this orchestra-project, playing Aphex Twin Songs? Icct Hedral (Phillip Glass Orchestration) is the track name, its on the donkey rubarb EP, and you can find it in http://www.warprecords.com/bleep/ if you just do a search for it. i dont know much about the piece though. also last year at the beggining of summer, in london, warp got together with the london sinfonietta and put on a show in the royal festival hall.it was all part of the etherial festival which celabrated the art of electronic music,or something like that. anyway the london sinfionetta played another of AFX' tracks i think it might of been 'quoth' from one of the polygon window albums. anyway im sure someone can give you more infomation than that. if you want you could search LONDON SINFONIETTA on the warp news page On Tue, 15 Feb 2005 13:02:21 +0100, sokela <alekos.bibudis@s1998.tu-chemnitz.de> wrote:

Very good, but actually I think this fails to do justic to the microvariativity in Glass's music, a better representation of which might be along the lines of:- There was a composer called Glass Phillip Glass PhillipGl ass Phil lipglass Phil lipGl ass Ph illipGlass PhilGlasslip PhiGl llip Glass Phass illip Gl ip Phill assGl PhillipGlass Or some such. In my mind's cinema, I see Phil in a film trailer as an Arnie-style action hero minimalist come to save the Music World from Maximalist Excess and Overdevelopment with one of those hoarse urgent voice-overs: "They wanted harmonic counterpoint... they reckoned without: The Arpeggiatooooor... Just when you thought it was safe to change chord again...". I obviously have too much time on my hands ;-) alan On Mon, 21 Feb 2005 14:13:57 +0100 ersatz-noddy <noddy@ersatzdesign.com> wrote:

At a guess, you heard the Phillip Glass orchestration - Glass is a big fan of Aphex - there's a recording of it on the Donkey Rhubarb EP, and it's really quite nice. More recently there's been a collaboration between the London Sinfonietta and various Warp artists - the Glass orchestration predates it but might have been included, and that could have been what you saw. Which reminds me of a limerick: There was a composer called Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass Phillip Glass. You can never tell when your Brian Eno Record is warped or when your Philip Glass disc is skipping. I began to appreciate Philip Glass and Aphex Twin around the same time, incidentally. Icct Hedral really lends itself to Philip Glass orchestration. Great piece. If you're not familiar with Philip Glass, I'd recommend...aw, Jesus....way to much to start listing... Though his collaboration with Uakti called Aguas de Amazonia is fantastic. Not to mention Einstein on the Beach... David Sim <pmxds@nottingham.ac.uk> wrote:
