I disagree. I think it is great that this attention is happening. In fact, on one of the game-related-industry lists I'm on, one of the threads that has been going on for the last couple of weeks involves how many people outside the industry don't realize the amount of effort that goes into the audio aspects of games these days. Obviously Ninja Tune and Splinter Cell's producers understand the value of working together, and props to both of them. Plus, the games market is just huge, these days - almost as big as the music market, itself! Some musicians survive just soundtracking games! It's an acute piece of cross-marketing, if nothing else. One day a piece of music will get to No.1 in the music charts on the back of being a game theme. Personally, I loved Empirion's remix of "Firestarter" from "Wipeout 2". ...or was that just the instrumental version?!? Oh well - both were good! I'm old - what do I know?! :-) Actually, I'll tell you what I know: ...that Richard H Kirk and The Orb will both be on the bill of a Tsunami benefit gig happening in Sheffield on February 10th!!! :-O This is breaking news, though, AFAIK so stay tuned for details, folks!
