In my case, neither. http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/jpkleinebay%40comcast.net/ The adjustment I need to make in this page is that the bulk of what has been posted recently is new (although I suppose this still works as they are still in my "collection" - just haven't been there long!). The great majority of what I sell is stuff I buy because I DO like it. jeff At 01:41 AM 5/13/2003, Paul Chillage wrote:

Maybe they buy them, make an MP3 backup and then sell them for half price ? Check out the "ME" link on Ebay next to some people's auctions... Personally, rather than constantly update auctions I just opened an online shop (BoomBoomBap). The prices are more or less the same as the auctions but it's less hassle... It also gives me an opportunity to clear out some of my rather enormous collection of music :) Shimone/Justes http://www.boomboombap.com > First Come > First Heard http://www.staticbeats.com > Electronic Music > Digital Culture ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Chillage" <paulchillage@hotmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, May 12, 2003 11:41 PM Subject: [idm] re: FA ebay

when collecting there comes a point when the collection is 'big enough'. everyone will have their own definition of this. also there is the constant need for cash to buy new stuff. so selling stuff is a good way to keep liquidity >0. making it a small business via ebay and/or shop mostly does not pay the rent or makes a good living, and is time consuming to say the least. but in my own humble case it is efficient enough to pay for my (ummm, admittedly quite extensive ;-) record buying & collecting habit plus some. regarding promos there are two situations: 1 - received for free from the label / artist, 2 - bought for cash second hand. i for one have never ever sold a promo which i received from the sender for free, which is sort of an honesty thing for me. but then i receive far less promos than i should ;-) different thing is when i bought a promo for money, then that promo is just another second hand record to me. ciao, wolf. ----://----------------------------------------------------- mailto:wolf@kompaktkiste.de http://www.kompaktkiste.de http://www.kompaktkiste.de/shop ----://----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
