I'm sure we could all come up with a list, but I'm not sure sexual orientation is a real measure of musicians. As for gay IDM clubs in NYC, err... I don't live there, but the few venues I know about where IDM-esque music would be heard on a regular basis -- Polar Bear Club, Halcyon and ... aren't really sexual-orientation specific. Besides, maybe it's just my anecdotal experience, but gay clubs are in general about dancing and drinking and recreational substance abuse not about chinstroking to electronic music. Total of gay people in the Dallas indie rock music scene: me Joe Butcher from Pleasant Grove that guy from Sugarbomb the drummer for that one band that sucks and will never get anywhere Total of gay people in the Dallas IDM (ha!) scene (ha!): me that guy I jacked off with once. Never again. He's in some act so dodgy I never bothered to learn the name. Call me cynical, call it my "internalized homophobia" (I prefer the term "misanthropy" if you must Psych 101), but gay people are generally nothing more than your average casual music consumer. They listen to the radio, and they listen to the gay club hits because that's where they go all the time. Clarify: I was at a gay pool party once and recalled being shocked at seeing a My Vitriol CD in the host's stack of CDs with all the showtunes and such.
