absolutely ripped shit up. Incredible. It's nice to see someone actually recreating their tracks on stage instead of pushing play on a freaking laptop. If he comes to your town, I suggest you get your ass to the club. Ok. Wanna elaborate a little bit? How was he "recreating" his tracks on stage? Do you mean he had the album on a bunch of custom vinyl and was putting it back together on the turntables with some scratching and variations or does he have some additional musicians to flesh things out? If its the former, been there done that with shadow and it was nothing to write home about. I'm currently listening to the new Tipsy remix album entitled "Remix Party!" and I just got through the High Llamas remix of a track and towards of the end, there is some sample of a dude talking about how he is going to "break his foot off into [someone's] ass" and then it segues into 311's "Down", which makes no sense at all. Needless to say... I am really fucking confused. Other than that it seems pretty cool so far even though the only people on it I've heard of is Matmos, High Llamas and Curd Duca. Then again, Tipsy could probably serve me a shit sandwich and I'd still beg for seconds. I guess I'm just a freak like that. -Aaron On Thursday, October 3, 2002, at 11:56 AM, omz wrote:

If ever there was someone in need of a foot up their ass, it would be 311. At least that's what I think they're saying. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

he played his tracks on 2 turntables, 2 cdj cd mixers and a MPC sampler, which he played a lot of beats and sounds off of tapping the pads live. he played the melody to 'organ donor' off the mpc, tapping pads and generally just tearing shit up. seeing him scratch cd's was totally off the hook...i didn't think it was possible to get such good results out of cdj's. the visuals were amazing-he had 3 rear projection screens showing freaked-out films. very impressive. and there was also a camera mounted above him that was mixed in with the films. the camera would zoom in on his hands so you cound see EXACTLY what he was doing at all times. and he was very busy. totally impressive. _________________________ omz http://www.hotweird.com/loaf --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
