I'm gonna save this one! First off, isn't "no" simply implied by not replying to the post in the first place? But I refuse to allow this regressive behavior to take meaning from my post here: Not only will I say "I probably have that bombraider track you wanted somewhere, but I'm not sure this is the place to ask for it, and thus I will not make it available in this general setting" but I will also tell you all about my weekend. Well, the musical end anyway. I drove to Altoona Pennsylvania [from Pittsburgh] to pick up my girlfriend and on the way up I listened to mu-ziq's "In Pine Effect". Track six on that album reminds me of high school for some reason. Sort of mocking "confused" but very structured and not very progressive. Then I played Mr. Bungle's Disco Volante. Again "high school", but perhaps because it came out when I was in high school. I rewind a few "parts" of various songs because I like the way they are put together. Anyone else do this? I can do this when I'm alone, and I often find myself doing this with the later half of Go Plastic. I can only do this when I'm alone because others do not understand: "Damnit Brandon" they say "can't you just listen to the fucking music and enjoy it?" "No I can't, that is why I am on the IDM list." "The ID-what? What's that?" "...I don't....I don't even know." "...." I get a lot of that: "...." I'm probably getting some right now. On the way back I listened to While - Lock. I'm not sure what to make of this album. Certain tracks obviously stand out more than others, but his style does remind me of perhaps one of my favorites - Lexaunculpt. Which leads me into my next album of choice on the way back, Lexaunculpt. Unlike While, Lex seems hellbent on NOT repeating a single statement without a bit or a lot of tweaking. This may be an exaggeration, but I wonder just how long he works his tracks over? Can you imagine the detail that goes into his composition? But it was a mixed compact disc. No meaningful references can be made...I know no names. Just clicks. I will not try to type the clicking patterns of a lexaunculpt song. Well, I probably will end up doing that at some point, but not on this thread at any rate. I hear that Lexaunculpt is planning to put a cd out on Planet-Mu, however, I also hear that Planet-Mu is going to quit releasing records for a bit. It would really be a shame if this one didn't come out. I mean, Muslimguaze (not that there's anything wrong with him) has, what, about 783 records to date and Lex has about 3. Dynamic music making though. I'd love to be able to model that somehow in my own work. Oh, and is it just me, or do Elctric Company and Lexaunculpt do some amazing, but rather limited [to my knowledge] collaborations??? I've only heard one or two tracks, but they seem to bring out the best in each other. Now Bogdan Raczynski - Samurai Math Beats waits for me in the car at track five. Anyone, by what I mentioned, know of any similar but perhaps lesser know albums I might appreciate? Or shit, just reply and talk about what you listened to this weekend. -ov. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? You asked, I'll answer. I've just suffered a burglary and some majorly high-end audio equipment has been stolen (including my beloved NAD 3020 amp from 1979!!). Thus I've been less than bright and cheery and by musical accompaniment lately has been Faure's Requiem (from the library, with lots of skips and jumps) Rachmaninoff's Vespers. The latter I cannot recomment highly enough. It's NOT IDM, but it is quite quite brilliant for those quiet introspective yet strong moments. There, totally off topic, but hey, that happens around here :-) I * --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The Vespers I don't like as much, but the Faure Requiem is one of the most beautiful pieces he wrote. I sang it and did the bass solo in college, you're making me want to pull out my recordings of it! :) m craque dot net on 8/21/02 9:25 AM, Irene McC spurted:

I'm just interested in which album by the Kid is thought to be the best. I've always thought GQ on the EQ was by far the best. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? HotJobs, a Yahoo! service - Search Thousands of New Jobs
