One of the best of 2001, to be sure. I wish I'd caught it in the theater to give it that spot on my list at the end of the year. Other greats for last year include Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Chopper, Together (Tillsammans), Tape, and Waking Life. I'm sure there's a few more besides the ultra-obvious (Man Who Wasn't There, Amelie, Mulholland Drive). --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Am I the only one who didn't like Audition at all? I tried it after seeing Dead or Alive and thinking it was the most amazing thing in movie history and was utterly disappointed. Speaking of DoA, do you know if its going to make it onto a R1 DVD anytime soon? Seems like a movie distributors would be more likely to be picked up for American distribution than Audition. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hime" <hime1@gte.net> Date: Wednesday, May 8, 2002 1:02 am Subject: Re: [idm] Ring

as long as we're on the subject, i have to recommend this japanese film i saw a couple of weeks ago: Battle Royale (2000) some time in the near future, the japanese government decides that because kids are up to no good, there has to be "battle royale" where they send 42 high school students to an uninhabited island and give each one a different weapon - only one can leave. it is just as fucked up as it sounds, and beautifully made. http://us.imdb.com/Title?0266308 On Wed, 8 May 2002, Aaron D Meyers wrote:
