hello i thought i would just introduce myself to everyone. My name is Carcus, really, and i make weird music on my computer, (any buzz users on this list?). i'll probably be mainly lurking on this list. so if you want you can check out some new and outdated(crap) short samples of "music" i make here: http://www.carcus.net/sounds/buzzclips/ don't mind the absence of theme to all those samples i'm still finding my niche. i have just recently started to get really into making music again, in other words, i'm single now and have more time to devote. so i'm learning new tricks everyday, i'll start posting some tracks here and there and you guys can attempt to make me cry...oh yeah and pardon all the chessey fade outs.... -- carcus http://www.carcus.net Band a Minute Quote of the day: Spacemen 3 It's all about droning, droning, shooting smack, droning, droning, praising the Sonics, droning droning. Hey, welcome aboard (or whatever). Not sure if you're aware but there's also a list called IDM-making over at Yahoo groups (http://groups.yahoo.com) for people into IDM who are writing stuff. Can be interesting if you want a place for discussing/hearing about actually writing tunes, rather than listening to them.. and there are definitely people using Buzz and similar programs on there. Not to mention the fact that people get seriously uppity if you try to post tracks on this list. Apparently it's "against the rules." That's what IDM-Making is for. wow that's almost as bad as [analogue-heaven], there are some real post nazis over there. i think the word digital in any post gets sent to dev/null/ . if this is true i'll stop sending links and let everyone go back to talking about the new hard to pronounce guy's album. just joking around with you guys please no flames here, but if you must, send them directly to me and spare the rest. -- Yo mama's so ugly, roaches go "Hi mom!" -- carcus http://www.carcus.net Band a Minute Quote of the day: Gang of 4 See Wire. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hi Carcus, and welcome. Yes, I also use Buzz.. it's a fabulous, fun program. Been using it for ages but am far from good at it ;-). Its got alot of versatility, but I have trouble making it sound professional.. but that's me. I know of people who've worked wonders with it. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know there's a fellow Buzz-er on the list. Jonathan H. stage.vitaminic.com/chlostragora/

Can I just ask why? I mean, if people have new IDM tracks, why not let the 'fans' of IDM know about them? If people are prepared to take any flak/criticism/praise, why not from those who actually listen to this stuff most of their lives.... I know people have submitted weblinks for tracks theyve written, and recently, I've written by with my thoughts.. (all MHO, just a query) Rich PS - thought that stuff was pretty cool... but I live in the middle of nowhere, and anything new is cool. Still, good material. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lander" <gamera_@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, April 09, 2002 2:01 AM Subject: Re: [idm] hi i'm the new kid. | > Hey, welcome aboard (or whatever). It has been a topic of previous debate here and I think you'll find that it says something about it in the IDM FAQ - wherever that is. I know it's out there somewhere. Fish around on the hyperreal site, maybe. jeff At 08:02 PM 4/8/2002, Rich wrote:

Because then the list that's supposed to be about the discussion of IDM as a whole is suddenly flooded with "LIST3N T00 M3Y H0T N3W TR4CKS Y00" type emails. Plus, you won't receive very much criticism, except from the people that are subscribed to both this and the IDM-Making list, as the people that don't make IDM don't care about your techniques or your synths or your computer, and only care about good IDM. And a lot of their opinions, upon seeing people who send links to "new tracks" to mailing lists, end up being akin to "why should I waste my time listening to this guy if he can't even get a record deal, or at least put this stuff on a CD?" Unless your tracks are completely finished, well polished, and possibly ready for a serious release, most people on this list don't care. On the IDM-Making list, it's all over the place, and people love it. That community is about making music, and making music better. So, you can take your pick. On this list, if you sound like an amateur, you'll get called on it -- publicly. On IDM-Making, you'll get advice and pointers for sounding better. Unless you're selling records already, though, I'd recommend at least giving your tracks a test-drive through IDM-Making. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
