I just listened to some sound samples of the upcoming Soul Center III album from Thomas Brinkmann on Novamute, and I dig 'em. Are the first two Soul Centers worth getting, and which one would be better to get first? Thanks in advance. -djgyn, forever ===== ======= "GASR" -(Accession recording artists)- << http://gasr.net >> (updated November 2001) << http://www.accession-records.de >> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? hello, I've only heard the first Soul Center CD so I can't compare with the newer stuff you mentioned, but it is, in my opinion, the worst thing Brinkmann's ever released, that I've heard at least. It just seemed really forced, this mish mash of badly put together R&B samples with a significantly less interesting accompaniment than most of his other work. I highly prefer his slightly more abstract stuff as "Ester Brinkmann," especially the "Totes Rennen" release which uses a similar approach to Soul Center, in that it loops a lot of samples over a minimal accompaniment and rhythm track, but for whatever reason it just seems to work a lot better. Also, the Ernst singles (mostly compiled onto the "Rosa" CD) are really great. Are the 2nd and 3rd soul center releases similar to the first, or has it improved? Am I missing out on something by judging the whole batch based on the first of the releases? _________________________________________________________________ Join the world?s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

haven't heard 3 yet (anxiously awaiting!), but Soul Center 2 is superior to 1. well accomplished musically and more interesting in terms of how he selects and edits the vocal samples. At least as good as the Ernst singles you mention (only about a quarter of which are on 'Rosa' btw) and often stylistically related. k --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I have to second Kurt's comments and just add that Soul Center 2 belongs to the groovy side of Thomas Brinkmann , you must listen to this one !
