yup nice one! i used to buy music from independant record companys too too but then realised they were shitty because not many people bought them.i only listen to stuff on majors such as britney and maria carey as i can be sure that others like the same as me and basically brittey can't possible be shit because millions buy her stuff.....sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.......... warp are shit not because they are a major but because they only need to release something and people will buy it, and can rely on the fact that most people are too lazy to search out new & better, (yes it really is!!) stuff. try neo ouija, vertical form, static caravan, merck, lux nigra, city centre offices, morr music, the list is endless. even though they probably recieve more demos from new acts than any other 'electronic' label they still only seem to sign acts that have already been road tested (ie money has been put into by a small label who obviously have less money and have to take a greater risk than warp) i.e. b.o.c. from skam and brothamstates from merck, (brothamstates!!!if they wanted an autechre copy why not choose a good one such as proem or funckarma?) savath & savalas from hefty! why was the copy i bought on import from the u.s.a. ?7.99 and when warp repressed it with their logo on it in the UK ?10.99,something wrong here?! then licence tortoise!!!!! why??? apparently they have their eyes on venitian snares now, how original!! and now with WARPMART they are managing to skim a percentage from a lot of the new and better labels, and just because people can't be bothered to look any further. than their site........ genius!! please correct me if i'm wrong here, i grew up on warp, they changed my musical life i would love to still love them but i'm sorry i don't see how i can anymore, can someone help? jerry 'a tasty world, a very tasty world" _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

YEAH WARP SUCKS! I HATE HOW THEY SELL RECORDS ON THEIR WEBSITE. THEY ARE SUCH SWINE FOR TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE NICHE THEY HELPED MAKE FOR WEIRD MUSICS. I HEAR THEY DIDN'T EVEN ASK SOME OF THE MORE UNDERGROUND LABELS THEY CARRY IF THEY COULD SELL THEIR MUSIC! I ALSO HEARED THAT THE UNDERGROUND LABELS TURNED DOWN THE MONEY WARP MADE FOR THEM. HAHAHAHAHA - WAY TO STICK IT TO THE FAT CAPITALIST SQUAREPUSHER PIMPING PIGS! ~G <- HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I don't care if warp is shit or not.. I was just adressing "big label bad _music_, small label good _music_" attitude (underlining music) people can be so fucking vain. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

[snip] Pay no attention to the cockroach in the corner. He's not interested in music, only politics. My message: pay no attention to the labels, puchase the music that is important to you. If I buy from Warp it's because I like what I'm buying. If I buy from Merck it's because I like what I'm buying. If I can't hear it first, or have heard extensively from peers (such as people on this list) that something is bad or not worth it, I'm probably not going to buy it. As for cost, it's called business. If Warp can sell through WarpMart and make a profit, they're going to do it. You don't have to buy from them, as you illustrated yourself. ===== .Adam http://www.damek.org/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Try FREE Yahoo! now now... first things first. its "brothomstates" not "brothamstates". and second, since when is brothomstates a copy of AE? i'd really like to know where you see the similarities, because i don't. Anyways, if you don't get his music, don't buy it. Those who do are quite confortable with his style. And second, go see the merck release list again (you said you prefered merk on snip number 1 above), and check for brothomstates releases. They are there, right? Thought so. Now make up your mind and stop contradicting yourself. If an artist signs up with a big label, thats because he feels like it. not because he's a trendy-major-label whore. They liked his style, they release his stuff. Whats so wrong about it? Warp releases a lot of good stuff, for *those who like it*. You obviously don't, so, don't use warpmart! *sigh* Fred Oliveira (aka krip/infashion) Enough Records -- http://enoughrecords.com Email: fred@box.sk || fbo@clix.pt ICQ: 78426467 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

awww! come on, brothom (sorry didnt have my handy idm spellcheck software handy) states not like or inspired by early ae? you can't see that.!!!! i like his stuff, but prefer proem & funckarma for that early ae inspired stuff. and no i don't have aproblem with ae inspired stuff, there is some great stuff out there ae don't do it anymore and new people are taking it further.

um regards my contradiction....my point was that merck are small warp are big....pretty simple...there is a difference, do you see? um... to make it clearer brotomstates were on merck.....now on warp...doh.

i'm not criticising brothamstates for signing to warp (anyone would if they care about their work and want to promote it) just wondering why warp can't find stuff that another label has already released and already promoted. and why include the md remix on the album ?(which is fab) Did warp did not specify this had to be on their album as it was already available on vinyl and cd! Whats so wrong about it? Warp releases a lot of good stuff, for

i don't need to. no one does there are tons of shops on the net selling all the stuff on warpmart, try a google search and maybe support some small retailers who perhaps take some risks and also stock more varied and challenging stuff. sigh.... _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Funny, I like Proem and Brothomstates, but I'm not into Funckarma. And I'm sure there are some people out there who like Ae only but not the inspired stuff. And I bet some people don't like any of it. Funny, this whole subjective tastes thing...

You state facts. Good. Good boy. Now go back to your headphones. And cry about Brothomstates making money. Poor Brothomstates. He's a sellout. http://fisticuffs.org/laughindoors/sellingout.txt

If you're bitter, I'm sure you can probably try to contact Brothomstates and find out if it was his choice or Warp's. I'm not sure myself, but it doesn't really matter. It's a good track, and it fits in well.
quoted 2 lines i don't need to. no one does there are tons of shops> i don't need to. no one does there are tons of shops > on the net
It's nice to have a choice, huh? As for Warp getting artists from other labels, I don't think Vincent Gallo or Chris Clark were on a different label previously... And for historical perspective, neither Aphex nor Autechre had their first releases on Warp. Same goes for a few of their other early artists, as well. It's just the nature of the business. You get some originals, you pick up some previously used. You release what you think is good and/or will make you money. Maybe you should start your own label... ===== .Adam http://www.damek.org/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Try FREE Yahoo!
