yup nice one!
i used to buy music from independant record companys too too but then
realised they were shitty because not many people bought them.i only listen
to stuff on majors such as britney and maria carey as i can be sure that
others like the same as me and basically brittey can't possible be shit
because millions buy her stuff.....sarcasm is the lowest form of
wit..........
warp are shit not because they are a major but because they only need to
release something and people will buy it, and can rely on the fact that most
people are too lazy to search out new & better, (yes it really is!!) stuff.
try neo ouija, vertical form, static caravan, merck, lux nigra, city centre
offices, morr music, the list is endless.
even though they probably recieve more demos from new acts than any other
'electronic' label they still only seem to sign acts that have already been
road tested (ie money has been put into by a small label who obviously have
less money and have to take a greater risk than warp)
i.e. b.o.c. from skam and brothamstates from merck, (brothamstates!!!if
they wanted an autechre copy why not choose a good one such as proem or
funckarma?) savath & savalas from hefty! why was the copy i bought on import
from the u.s.a. ?7.99 and when warp repressed it with their logo on it in
the UK ?10.99,something wrong here?!
then licence tortoise!!!!! why??? apparently they have their eyes on
venitian snares now, how original!!
and now with WARPMART they are managing to skim a percentage from a lot of
the new and better labels, and just because people can't be bothered to look
any further. than their site........ genius!!
please correct me if i'm wrong here, i grew up on warp, they changed my
musical life i would love to still love them but i'm sorry i don't see how
i can anymore, can someone help?
jerry
