Hello all, I have a question; my roomate is wanting to sell his Roland SP-202 sampler for a dirt cheap price. It doesn't really do a whole lot but it does have a MIDI-in input. Even though I've been an electronic musician for 4 years, I have never used MIDI and know very little about it. This is what I want to know: can I make my keyboard, which is MIDI compatible and has both MIDI in and out ports, control the samples in the SP-202? i.e. a synth pad is in bank 1 and I use the keys to trigger both the sample and the pitch and duration. Any help would be very appreciated. John __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Yes, going MIDI out of your keyboard to the MIDI in on the SP-202 you can trigger the samples, and control other param. with it as well... However, not having a MIDI out on the SP-202 is a MAJOR disadvantage if you are going to record the MIDI data (which is always a good idea, and much more flexible than dealing only in audio) I personally wouldn't even bother with it.....If you've been an electronic musician for 4 years, im sure your set up is big enough to not even need it.....Hell, if your computer has enough muscle, you can do all your sampling internally..... Bottom line, if your going to pay more than $50. for it, I would say dont waste your money....its a toy. 4 years of dealing with electronics should tell you enough. xh --- John Counts <polycyclicism@yahoo.com> wrote:
