What I'm looking for isn't *necessarily* IDM, but the IDM-l will undoubtedly give me more interesting and better recs than other sources. So. I am interested in albums/artists with long (10 min+), preferably bass-heavy grooves, mellow, yet with a filthy beat. Think Plaistow Flex Out, but 20 minutes long instead of 4 or whatever. Long grooves, slow/mellow, interesting rhythm, bass. CD's... I don't have a record player. Any thoughts? Z __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hmm... I don't know if the beats are filthy, but maybe check out some early electric Herbie Hancock. It grooves really fucking hard, has some early tweaky electronics and the tracks are LONG. The ones you'd want are Mwandishi, Sextant, Thrust and of course the first Headhunters album. Yea... I guess there are some pretty filthy beats going on there. There are some CTI releases that might do it for you if you are into the soul jazz thing. I like Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: Lander <gamera_@yahoo.com> Date: Saturday, December 8, 2001 4:57 am Subject: [idm] looking for recommendations

2001-12-10 17:35Colin ButtimerI'd second Aaron's suggestions! I was listening on my way in to work today to Julian Pries

I'd second Aaron's suggestions! I was listening on my way in to work today to Julian Priester/Pepe Mtoto's 'Love, Love' which is a 20 minute long bass groove with wildness going on over it. He was Herbie's trombonist in the Mwandishi sex/septet. Unfortunately, it's never been reissued (a crying shame) so available I'm afraid only via vinyl. Mellow isn't really applicable, but Miles Davis's On the Corner is mad. Also Ife and many others. All the best, Colin.
