On the off chance that anyone on this list went to the Rephlex session at the Barbican in London last night, was Bodgan actually there (hiding behind those screens at the side of the stage perhaps) or did we pay hard earned cash to listen to a recording?! Good job Robert Normandeau and Pierre Bastin were excellent. Rob ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I was right at the front, and Bogdan, did indeed move his laptop behind a small raised platform, and then lay down next to has laptop. He then proceeded to play what I can only describe as sample songs, but who knows how they were being generated. Robert Normandeau was ace, and I spoke to him for a few minutes afterwards. That last track was made ENTIRELY of the samples of children making Comic book noises (like WHOOSH) I thought that he would have used other sounds/samples. He said that he had made it 8 years ago, it took him one year, and he had to craft all 16 channels (i.e. surround sound) by hand, as digital tools were not that advanced then. Listening in two channel stereo to that song (whatever it is called), would just not do it justice. Pierre Bastin's Mechano machines were interesting, and after initial laughter, the sounds his machines produced were pretty cool. The highlight was to see Richard D James up close. He is very tall. I wanted to speak to him, but an appropriate opportunity did not present itself. Thankfully I also managed to sell the two spare tickets I had. Speaking of surroundsound - I went along to hear the Stockhausen electronic recital on Sunday night which involved the venerable old man talking about each piece before playing the tapes. It was sort of incredible to listen to this man and see him in the flesh, but what was most amazing was to hear the proper distribution in space of pieces like Gesang der Junglinge and Kontakte - Wow! If you've got these on stereo media and ever have the chance to hear a proper concert performance - Go and sit and close your eyes! All the best, Colin.

One more thing.. There was a BR CD called "Muzyka Ola Imigrantow" on the table when we sat down. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but thanks to Rephlex and BD for the CD.
